We have a 1996 Chev. crew cab 4x4 that does pretty good around here in our area. It has a 225 gal. poly tank skid unit in it with a Hale pump. Only real issues with it is the turning radious and and brakes are shakey. Other wise an ok truck.
We have an old Laramie/Ferrara 3500, two seater, with 250 gallons, foam, front sweeps. It's turning 26 years old this month and we are looking for a new brush rig. New rig would be something like a 550/5500 diesel 4x4 crew cab 179 or so wheelbase, 60" or so cab to axle, power adjustable pedals and driver seat for short/tall drivers, 400 gallons water, class A foam, hose reel, front sweeps, hose tray preconnect, 1.5" rear discharge, side LED pole lamps, winch, some storage. Needs to fit under an 8'6" (102 inch) bay door in a 25' long bay, so no monster rigs. We have very low call volume and few miles per year, but rough roads/trails. Thoughts on Ram vs Ford, what features work for you, etc.?
