To all non-IABPFF members, what do you think about diversity in the Fire Service? Please respond to the following statement by clicking on the link below to our BLOG:
Diversity should not be used as an excuse to higher folks that can’t do the job; there are too many minorities that can. Diversity should not be used to l...ower standards and all too often many folks try to associate diversity with lowered standards. It is wrong for any department to lower standards to obtain diversity and it is equally wrong for us to associate diversity with lowered standards. Let’s recognize, define, embrace, and promote diversity in our department and the Fire Service because it follows best practices for any organization which serves a diverse community, and while doing so keeps our career a respected one.
Problems are pretty easy to identify....but solutions are the real deal. Lets not spend so much time identifing problems we know have existed from our beginings. LETS AGRESSIVELY FIND SOLUTIONS AND ANSWERS.

My brothers and Sisters, the greatest season of all is just a few days away. And while most companys are running around with Santa, its good to know that when we talk about the birth of Christ, we talk about it in such away that it lets those around us know that we are children of God. It is my prayer that each and everyone of you enjoy this Christmas Season and have a very Happy New Year.
December is around the corner time for all of us to think about the mask and the seal that we most get, times our changing and we are part of that change lumott and we most we most hold are head up and do what is right
well in my department you have to keep the hair above your collar and bottom lip.As you can see in my pic i have a fu man cu stache but it doesn't hinder me getting a seal in my mask as long as I don't let it get too bushy.
Hello, I am a Black man who is a firefighter/Medic. Can anyone help me out by telling me your grooming standards in regards to maintaining a seal with your SCBA facepiece?
Saying hello from Inwood NY on long island I'm glad to see there is a group online For fellow black irefighters and medical personnel to meet. I've been a firefighter for 21 years and an emt for 18 I just became als certified in the last three years, I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks once in a while.
