Hey there, just wanted to stop by and say hi and let you know a little about me. My name is Bruce and I started my firefighting career as a volunteer in Collingdale, PA back in 1979. Moved around a little to other fire departments as I moved around the county, Parkside Fire Co.#1 and Upland Fire Co. #1.

In July 1988 I took my first paid firefighter position, it was with the Federal Government at the now closed (BRAC’ed) Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, and in 1992 I worked my way up and was promoted to the rank of Captain. That’s when I was forced to take a position as a Captain at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in DC. Since getting there I have made some great friends and long lasting partnerships. In 2002 I was promoted to my current rank of Assistant Fire Chief.

Someday I hope to get back into a volunteer fire dept. again right now I don’t have enough time for my self let alone a fire dept. May be when I retire….just a couple years out…Stay safe out there……
