There is no way to achieve a FF I and II certification without attending a program or institution that has adopted NFPA 1001 professional qualifications. There is no way to achieve FF1 and II with out the manipulative portions of the exams. If your friend is in the military and plans on seeking a career in the fire service, I would use the military educatonal incentives to accomplish those requirements either while serving or sometime after. The military has service men and women serving as firefighters in many airforce bases around the country. It may be difficult while he is in Afganistan but maybe on his return he can look into a local community college or even a volunteer organization. Anyway ther are options out there. The most important is to make sure there accredited either through the states fire academy/fire marshal's office or through IFSAC.
New Jersey and possibly others will not accept an online course in anything. ICS, Hazmat, you name it - they will not take it. This may true for your friend too. Unless pre-arranged with the local Academy, they can choose to not accept the online and not even offer a chance to demonstrate the practical tests.
I actully found a place that offers it but I decided to not have him do it anyhow it's a lot of money from the department to have him do it and I don't believe in paying that much for something that is not as affective. He would also have to go to a two week boot camp when he got back. thanks though
And the thing is I feel the same way I hate that my fire tech degree is all online but again the boy is going to Afghanistan that is the only reason I was lookin g.... and I went already to the fire academy.
Found a place but he would have to go for 2 weeks when he got back to finish..... so there is stuff he can work towards while deployed
Ok guys thanks for the comments however I am tired of typing the same thing over and over so I am closing the discussion.... THanks
