WEST BEND, Wis. - A 59-year-old Hartford man is charged with trying to hire someone to kill the Allenton fire chief.

Robert G. Belk faces a felony charge of solicitation of first-degree intentional homicide. He's free on $5,000 cash bond.

Prosecutors say a Milwaukee man told investigators Belk was trying to hire him to kill Fire Chief John Breuer. The criminal complaint says the man played a recording in which Belk allegedly told the man to follow Breuer home and shoot him.

The complaint quotes Belk as saying he told the man about problems he was having with Breuer, and the other man offered to rough him up. Belk says the man offered to do even more if necessary.

A message left with Belk's attorney was not immediately returned Wednesday.

Belk's next hearing is Monday.

I'm sure that there is a logical explanation for this "misunderstanding".
It's not like he killed somebody.
