What tools do you use the most on a fire scene?

I am sure that this has been discussed before on here. But I am curious what tools you and your dept. use the most and find the most valuable to have on scene.

HOOK AND CAN all the way, NY hook or sheet rock rake and a water can are the two tools I like to use the most on building fires. For woods or brush fires I like the leaf blower.

We actually do not carry anything a basic first aid kit on our truck because everytime the trucks roll so does at least one ambulance.

I am army man I know fubar. I have been doing some research into this tool. And it is Fubar but seems like a good concept.

You mention a electric fan. All we use as of now is a gas operated ppf but we are thinking about electric any info on a good brand?

The only thing I see with this list that I do not agree completely with is the mention about pulling out a partner with a haligan. I know that not all dept's have new gear. But our dept. has some new gear and is getting more. And all the new gear has a oh shit handle on the back right above where the scba frame sits. Pull it and a pull strap attached to a recovery harness comes out and you have all the drag you need. Just don't pull it unless you have to cause it is a pain to get back in.

I was not sure at first what everyone meant by Iron's either. Never heard them called that. But a couple friends at the dept. had a good time laughing at me for not knowing before they told me.

Ok I am going to take the bait here. What exactly do you use a leaf blower for? I know we use brooms and shovels along with lot's O'water. But a Leaf blower???

For wildland or brush fires it's a quick way to help make a fire line, just blow the stuff out of the way. Though they should be used in conjunction with the shovels, rakes and pulaski tools.
