(AP) NEW YORK -- A US Airways plane has crashed into the Hudson River, sending passengers fleeing for safety in the frigid waters.
New York City firefighters, federal transportation officials and an armada of boats were responding to the accident. It was not immediately clear if there were injuries. A government official says plane struck a bird that disabled two engines.
This a remarkable example of a pilot's skill and resolve, and certainly a miracle for the 155 souls aboard when the Airbus was disabled by bird-strikes. People seem boggled that the plane was brought down and sent apparently little advance warning and appeared under control during its descent. I would say it is a model example of a pilot who did not lose his nerve, kept his cool, and saved the lives of everyone aboard.

As a former flight attendant...I can say with 100% certainty that the pilot and first officer deserve gold medals for landing that plane the way they did. They saved a LOT of lives. Amazing.
I just want to praise the pilot on and amazing crash landing and say wow to how well our fellow firefighter and EMS responded to the rescue. This truly is amazing that there were no major injuries
