(AP) NEW YORK -- A US Airways plane has crashed into the Hudson River, sending passengers fleeing for safety in the frigid waters.
New York City firefighters, federal transportation officials and an armada of boats were responding to the accident. It was not immediately clear if there were injuries. A government official says plane struck a bird that disabled two engines.

watching this unfold on TV-- what a great job the pilot and co pilot did in saving the lives of all people on board! The firefighters and EMS people have a big job on their hands- God Speed!
This pilot deserves a total award for this one. Wow how it is still floating is beyond me. He just saved a lot of lives. I know this flight well as I have been on it flying with connections in Charlotte a lot. Im in shock and awe right now over the experience in flying that they have on this plane. I dont think ill ever fly any other airlines again.
Fox news just had live scanner feeds on and the response convos on there. Guys yall rock and hope you get some sleep tonight, Because I cant even imagine what your thinking right now and well when you got that call. You guys will always be the best roll models for future and existing fighters around the world. God Bless
Yeah I work for the airlines and a FA called in to get on to Catcrew (their bidding software)
to check to see the crew thats on the plane.
Needless to say we've been bogged down at work ever since.
Good news is, FAA confirmed all crew (5) and passengers (146, roughly)
have been evacuated and made it out safely!
Thank the lord! Terrible how statistics were just saying
how we havent had a plane crash in 2 years and then this happens,
sounds to me like they jinxed them. Next time why can't they just
keep their mouths shut, and birds fly low?
