About a week ago our Engine and squad were part of a parade. The only thing that stood out among all the fire trucks is that we were the only one flying the American Flag. I think that all the trucks in a parade should fly it in respect and honor for all the other fire fighters in and out of service. If you have any comments or if you agree or disagree with me, your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

That would have been a beautiful site to see all of the fire trucks to have been flying the American Flag, but look at it this way. Your trucks held all of the honors in having the only Flag in the parade to honor all firefighters.
I never thought about it that way. I'm glad atleast some honor was shown at the parade. Keep up the good work.

Thanks.
We fly The American Flag from at least one of our trucks if not all of them. I am in the Honor Guard and take pride every time I get to carry the flag.I cannot stand to watch a sloppy or incomplete colors detail when it stands for so much and represents all of the sacrifice from our Troops and Veterans.
That's how i feel about it. If somthing means so much and you don't feel that you should represent it then your just throwing it away. Keep up the good work.

Thanks.
Bingo. That's how we should honor all of those you brought up. They should atleast be able to have it in a parade and having it on all emergency apparatus would be the best turn out. Keep up the good work.

Thanks.
I think there is a time and a place for the flag to be "flown" on apparatus and Parades and Funerals are about it. I have seen from time to time a full size flag attached to the rear grab rails on an apparatus, in my humble opinion that is a big no no. A 3X5 flag ends up dragging below the rear bumper picking up mud,and snow. Then you get on scene and drag the LDH off the top of the rig and the thirteen stripes now appear to be a checkerboard of red or yellow depending on the colour of your LDH. The last colour I ever want associated with the Stars and Stripes is Yellow.
I have no problem with displaying the colors on an apparatus, as long as it's displayed correctly.

United States Code Title 4 Section 7 Position and Manner of Display
(b) The flag should not be draped over the hood, top, sides, or back of a vehicle or of a railroad train or a boat. When the flag is displayed on a motorcar, the staff shall be fixed firmly to the chassis or clamped to the right fender.
We Proudly fly the flag! During parades we also fly a P. O. W. flag as well.
Our aging baby Engine 21 almost always flys Old Glory. Unfortunately our mount broke recently. Here is a picture of her in action.

What a beautiful 1989 Pierce Lance. Unfortunately she will be retired at some point in the future.
Attached is a vid of Engine 21 and then a pic of our flag against our shined deck gun.
