TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- A firefighter in northwest Ohio has died while on duty.
Toledo Fire Battalion Chief Mark Klein says the firefighter, who also worked as a paramedic, died Friday afternoon.
Authorities have not released the firefighter's name or the cause of death. Fire officials are planning to release more details at a news conference on Saturday.

It is with deep regret that we advise you that Toledo (Ohio) Firefighter Mike Darrington age 45, passed away late this afternoon in the Line of Duty while on station. Firefighter Darrington was assigned to Station 14, the station received an alarm and he failed to report to the apparatus. Firefighter Darrington was a member of the department since May 11, 1984. Our sincere condolences to the members of the TFD and FF Darrington's family and friends.
I knew Darrington, I used to work part time with him at Promedica Air and Mobile, In the short time I worked with him I got to know the man Mike Darrington. Not only was he a brother firefighter, He was a hell of a man with a big heart and great character. He loved his job, his family and his city. He will be missed by lots of people.
