Who can identify what is wrong here? It should be pretty obvious and this is one reason we need to look at the panel boxes when we do our inspections.

First, there is not 36 inches of clear working space. But, that is not the kicker.

The great thing here is that the person must have gotten tired of tripping the breaker so he just tied it “Open.”

I have to admit, I haven’t seen this one before, but, you just never know what you will find out there.

This will definately cause an over load and could easily cause a fire. If the breaker is tripping then something is wrong to begin with.

Be diligent and remember the small things count. Check those panel boxes.

Stay safe, train hard.

I came across one in an old grocery which had been super glued, and they couldn't understand why they were smelling burnt insulation.
Here's one I've come across a few times, try looking at the plugs in a local barber/beauty salon. You'll be amazed at how many appliances are used to construct an octopus on one electrical circuit. The common response when this is pointed out we've all heard before, we've always done it that way.
As Ralphie's Father said in the movie "A Christmas Story" when he pluged in the "Leg Lamp",

"Well it's just one too many." LOL ....

....Sorry i know it is after Christmas but this is what this discussion reminded me of. LOL

Its not as bad as it looks the breaker will still trip with it wired open. The master spring inside will let go not leting power inter the line. This was changed in breakers in 1972 UL listings. But it was a good try.
