Thousands of Chickens Perish in Georgia Poultry Farm Blaze

ATLANTA - More than 20,000 chickens have been killed in a fast-moving fire at a Forsyth County commercial poultry farm.

Forsyth County fire department spokesman Capt. Jason Shivers said firefighters were called to the farm just before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

He said the blaze was fully involved when they arrived and that chicken houses burn quickly because there's an open frame and a lot of wood, dust and feathers.

No humans were injured, but two other nearby chicken houses were believed to be damaged.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

20,000 chickens? Glad I didn't have to peel the taters.
The price of a pound of chicken just went from $6 to $8.
Now that's what I call a BBQ......who brought the beer...?
Good thing there's no Chicken Coroner, he'd be there for the next ten years wrapping this one up....
He would be working his giblets off, wouldn't he.
I've worked a couple of chicken-house fires here in Georgia and it is NOT pleasant!!(OR Pheasant!!)
