Thousands of Chickens Perish in Georgia Poultry Farm Blaze

ATLANTA - More than 20,000 chickens have been killed in a fast-moving fire at a Forsyth County commercial poultry farm.

Forsyth County fire department spokesman Capt. Jason Shivers said firefighters were called to the farm just before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

He said the blaze was fully involved when they arrived and that chicken houses burn quickly because there's an open frame and a lot of wood, dust and feathers.

No humans were injured, but two other nearby chicken houses were believed to be damaged.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Mike, if this had been a SoCal fire, would thousands of tofu patties have perished?
I don't know how bad chickens are but I can say from experience that cows and rabbits don't like fire much either.
