We sit around BS'n and swapping stories. Just hanging out together in the station together is so important to developing a great working relationship with other members of the Department. Cleaning equipment, sharpening tools, rolling hose, filling air bottles in general working around the station. Good Times!
Mine is similar to Chief Sharp's we do that same. We order pizzas and buy the 2 liter bottles of pepsi and dr. pepper and then if we want we go and clean the rigs and trucks if it is nice enough to do that... We have a great time.... doing so...
Just a question but how do you know how to be better for the next call if you don't know what its going to be... I get told Expect the Unexpected... I am not trying to be mean but why discuss what you can do better on your next run... The only thing you can do better is your proformance... Sorry for sounding mean...
cody you have to be a explorer...you expect the unexpected for a reason...so you will be prepared for whats at hand.you may not know what your next call is but if you have trained for a sticky situation or similar one things will run alot smoother.you say the only thing you can improve on is your performance...you are right... performance in this field is everything.there are things in this field that work and do not work and it is good to discuss what went wrong at a call to prevent it from happening again.it is what keeps your team SHARP
Well of course we (the old guys) tell you (the young guys) how we used to fight fire uphill in the snow, barefooted.........about the time we had to get another nozzle cuz we melted the other one........we do talk about past calls, not to scoreboard you, but to help you not be so surprised when the unexpected does happen. Another thing, there is always something to do, double checking your rig, studying, cleaning, not that we do that all of the time.....you do need time to have fun, that is one of the things that really builds the commaradery.
