Suspect Arrested for Blast That Injured California Firefighters

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento police have arrested a man who lives next to a vacant house that exploded and caught fire earlier this month, leaving four firefighters injured.

Police spokesman Sgt. Norm Leong said Tuesday that Robert Durst, who is 44, was being held in Sacramento County Jail.

Jail records show he is being held on suspicion of arson causing great bodily injury, aggravated arson with a prior record and possession of a firearm by a felon. Bail was set at $1 million.

Firefighters responded to a call of a natural gas leak at a house in the city's Oak Park neighborhood on July 5. The home exploded when they entered.

The four firefighters were released from the hospital after being reated for burns to their faces and hands.
