IN Delaware we have a chiefs law that gives officers the power to control scenes. I think one of the most important sections is ; Title 16 Chapter 67 AUTHORITY OF FIRE DEPARTMENTS AND FIRE POLICE WITHIN THE STATE

(3) To blockade any public highway, street or private right-of-way temporarily while at such scene;

This one little sentence says that the fire department can block a highway no matter what. Polie over the years have charge officers with blocking a highway when THEY feel its not necessary. By having a LAW would alliviate much of issues that have been in the past.

Well Craig my state, NH our law says the Senior FD Offical and the LEO Supervisor will work in UNIFIED COMMAND at all traffic accidents . Our previous law used to say what yours does now. This change has essentially taken away total power from one agency and forced both agencies to actually talk to one another.
Talk to each other, FETC?

Surely not- stop that!!!!! ;-)
