I used to be both a fire fighter in training and and at one time a fire explorer . What I really hated was when drivers would leave and be short of 2 people required by the sop's of the department i used to be on and i finally brought it up at a department meeting one thursday night at the end of traing and never had a problem with it afterwards. I want peoples take on this topic
Well where you still in training when this happen or a cert ff and how long was the truck in sta befor you got there we hold up for a few min if you have a crew of three you can roll but we dont really have this problem we get max out on all calls
I'm not trying to be to critical but man that's kinda hard to read. I think you are asking what people think of the truck leaving understaffed? If so many variables should be considered, such as are other members responding to the station or directly to the scene. Was their a need for a full engine crew? At my station our SOG's state that two people must be in the truck before it rolls BUT they are SOG's and every situation is different.

How long was the truck idle? Your sop may say you need # ff to roll out but there are times when you need to roll out with less and call for a 2 alarm.
Depends on the situation I don't think our SOP's say but you need to use good judgement anyways and caution and always think safety. Its not a slap in the face but one of concern. Remember everyone has your best interest in mind. But yes it can be aggravating!
