Get them! It is a big expense at first but in the long run the money savings will be good.

No one can really give you any kind of recommendation because from what I have seen, companies that do solar installation are typically local. What you may want to consider is making contact with your electricity provider to get a list of approved contractors, if such a list exists. If not, you should be able to make contact with whoever does plan review for your jurisdiction to find out what buildings have solar. From there, you can query building owner/occupants/manager... to get input on the company they used and if they were/are satisfied with the installation/routine operations.

thanks for the replies. We are having a meeting with the company rep next week. I guess we will see how that goes. You raise a good point about talking to the other places that use the panels. Going to go get some input from them before we have the meeting. Thanks again!

I had a uncle who was a plumber and owned his own business. He built and placed solar panels on top of his house and used them to heat the house. He had water running through them and into a water tank which pumped it through the heating system in the house. He had a fireplace in the basement and ran pipes through there so he got light a fire to add more heat to the system when he needed it.
I firgue solar panels could be added to a station to cut utility use. I also think wind turbines is something else to add along with the panels.

We don't have solar panels but we do have a wind turbine. It maintains power in the event we lose our main source for both us and the adjoining police department who is also our dispatch.
