Hi all,

I'm needing a new pair of station boots and I was thinking about getting a pair of either the Converse slip ons or the 5.11 Slip ons. My question is this. Has anyone bought a pair of either, and if so, did they hold up (the elastic) and would you suggest them to other firefighters.

Any imput would be VERY helpful.

Stay safe,

Ron

I don't know about the brands you mention, but I have a pair of Thorogood's, safety toe, slip on shoes and never had an issue in the last few years. After the initial break in period, there was no problem, the elastic and leather at first is stiff, so it took a little bit to get them on, but it beat tying laces. Now it is a matter of seconds to slip on or off and definately beats trying to tie laces at the 2 am call.
If you are talking about the 5.11 company boot, I have worn them for over a year now. A lot of our guys wear the Red Back also. This is rapidly becoming a very popular style of boot in the fire service. They have held up just fine.
