Silly Word Game
Apparently some are offended by what they describe as "Silly Word Games". Ok, your opinion is your opinion. The Word Game was started some time ago by a person no longer here. I was asked to pick it up and did so over a year ago. I have asked the Web Chief about discontinuing it and have been asked to keep it here. If it wernt here then surely it wouldnt make any difference to me or anyone else that continues to add the words to keep it going. I'm actually amazed at how long its gone on. If you dont play it, OK. no biggee!
However,rather then bitching about whats here or not, add something constructive yourself. This site is what YOU make it. Be part of the discussions and information sharing. The names of the persons mentioned share wonderful and insightful posts. Yes, there have been some who have moved on. They are missed. However, again, be part of the process, add your discussions, ask your questions, seek information and share. Who cares about whether there's a WORD Game or not? I sure dont. If it goes away it wont make a difference anyway. However, if people continue to add to it who cares either way. Be constructive and participate. Its your participation in this site that makes it what it is.

I have started three discussions on this board only to have little to no response. I have added to the word game just to give my .02 worth of words to help keep it going but wish I could get more responses to my posts as well. I see that I was wrong. No one seems to have the time or curtesy that they used to have to at least do that any more. Just figured I would let you know what I think of it.

I'm willing to bet that the topic in regards to word games has made the intended affect (at present). I personally have seen more discussions posted and more topics to consider moreso than the same old stuff. I don't see that you need to "defend" the games post, because you are right, it is up to people how they wish to respond or participate.
What I personally have seen though is that such "games" and meaningless discussions will bury other more field pertinent discussions. As a result you see comments like Ron here who feel as though their topic has nothing to add to the field. (Ron, it isn't always the case, many times a topic can be raised, and things learned, just people don't comment on it to *bump* it back to the top).
Typically when there is such a post like T.O. presented, you tend to see a more of an influx to more insightful discussions and things are good until the discussion starts to get beat to death and things revert back to the silly games. (yes I will use the term because I don't agree with such topics). I also went back into old discussions and **bumped** many of them, so much so that I wanted to bury the word games threads back several pages. Well, you can guess the results, it did not take long for someone to bypass all those discussions and once again **bump** the game back to the top.
All in all, it gets discouraging.....as we can see....when it appears such games take precidence over other discussions. Then you get folks like Ron here, who think their own topics are unimportant or useless as compared to these games.
So, I'm about looking for solutions as well as pointing out problems and perhaps it would help from those who both participate in word games and discussions, like you Chief, start to look back at the topics as the compile and perhaps look to *bump* some of the threads starting to get buried by the games. Also, what about encouraging others playing the games....those who predominantly play vs participating in other discussions to respond. Something like the word being "housefire".....and you say "water"....but then follow up with "hey did you check out the thread on size ups" etc? Just an example, but it is something any of us can do too.....maybe some people need more of a push.

John, the whole reason I am here and stay here is simply the interaction and discussions. Yes, there are times it seems that there isnt anything really interesting to discuss and yet other times there are several things of interest. Bottom line, its up to all of us to make it interesting and worthwhile. Unfortunately some will not step out and ask questions or bring up a discussions. Such is life. While others seem to always have something to say. The way I see this site is there is something here for everyone if they choose to get involved.
