Skip breathing was explained to me as rescue breathing. When you are trapped or almost out of air etc. You take a breath and hold it until you cannot any longer. You then take another breath. I was told to make as if I was going under water and had to hold my breath. Anyone is open to correct me if I am wrong but that is what I was taught.
yea thats mostly right. when you need to exhale take in more are and hold it, then exhale. if you relax and concentrate on your breathing you can make the last quarter of your bottle last a long time.... the last time I did it I lasted 47 min and some change.
Skip Breathing Technique:
i. Inhale fully
ii. Hold breath for normal exhalation time
iii. Take additional breath before exhaling
iv. Exhale slowly
v. Repeat cycle
vi. It is important to remain mentally and physically calm.
Skip breathing actually becomes very easy to do once you get used to it. The hardest part of it is getting used to slowing yourself down. Freaks you out at first, but then it just becomes second nature and you dont even realize you're skip breathing.
