So Im a "rover" (extra guy that fills in for a set amount of shifts) so I need to carry around my gear, was wondering what you all carry your stuff in, I would like to find some type of trunk, that I can put in and out of my car, I have a GMC Yukon, any Ideas out there, Im not a big fan of that big red bag. let me know....
iv found that its carrys a set of PPE and not much else have to pack it carefully to fit in extras. The wheels and strong skidder base are great though.
A goalie Hockey bag works well ... most have wheels so you dont have to carry the gear around all the time, but that is more pricey then the $30 Rona (Canadian Home Depot) plastic tub.
I work EMS but I volunteer for the fire dept. So I carry a small medical bag, an overnight bag for clothes and bedding, I have my turnout gear in a issued gear bag, and a laptop case for my laptop computer. All in all not too disorganized.
I use an oversized caribiner clip. with my pants around my boots, I put my coat between my boost and put the clip though the loops on the top of my boots. then I clip my helmet to the caribiner also. I will try to post a picture tomorrow.
Sometimes we get lucky Vic... And Andrew? Depends how much you want to carry really - it's great for wildfire, even if that wasn't the reason they gave it to us!
Apart from the PPC being constantly exposed to UV (which will break down the Kevlar content), there's the issue of loose gear in the back of the vehicle. Wouldn't be a nice sight if the vehicle was in a crash.
