Hello friends.
I would like to know, if in your fire department there is any "special requirement" for firefighters returning from vacation/Injury?
Are they subjected to any kind of test (physical, dexterity, operational...), before they are put to active duty?
Best regards,
Luis Horta

The thing is I am just trying to understand, how other fire departemens work.
(I know I can explain this better in portuguese, and my english is not perfect so...)
I'll try to give an example:
1 - you go on vacation (may it be for 1, 2 or 20 days).
2 - as soon as you return to the firehouse, you resume to your normal functions.
3 - During that period, it is obvious that you will not forget all you know, nor will you get so out of shape. So far all is ok.
4 - But you might suffer a small injurie, or acquire a medical condition, that will "limit" you to some extent.
5 - If you hide it (either by shame, fear, ignorance...) and not put to some physical/medical examination, you became a liability, everytime the alarm goes off.
We have ZERO tests in my department. And that is why I brought this issue to the table... so I can understand if anybody is doing something different.
