"Within the next couple of weeks, we're going to begin shooting the last 19 episodes, which will be the final two seasons of the show," Tolan told TVGuide.com.

Created by and starring Denis Leary, the series follows a group of fictional firefighters as they deal with the aftermath of the real-life terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center Sept. 11. 2001, which killed hundreds of New York firefighters.

"I think they're stretching the airing of (the series) out until the 10th anniversary (of 9/11,)" Tolan said. "So if you put 10 episodes on next year and nine the following year, you'll land there."

o no no the end of my favorite show! I'll be going thru "Rescue me" withdrawl....
Doc,

You better take back the part about wrestling not being real.
Do you really want me showing up at your firehouse in my yellow Hulkster tank top and body slamming you on the truck bay...well? I didn't think so!
Hey it's cool we're friends now...plus I'm afraid of any kind of doctor.
Good point!
How can they kill Tommy?
Jason Thanks for bring that up! From reading alot of these posts/comments I dont think people realize what Dennis Leary does for Fire and Rescue Departments across the nation. I could be wrong, but I think he lost a cousin who was a Massachuettes Firefighter and died fighting a major fire. Some of the shows were great and some of them were "out-there and way off base" but compared to what else is out there it was a Great Show.
I agree with you there like abounch of alcoholics and this season didn`t look like alot of firefighting parts but i still love the show
Do you think Tommy really dies what would the show be like without Tommy
I will never understand why actors would want to end a very high quality show like this. Look at all the material they have write with , every day in this business it just like a soap opera, think about it!
Travis I couldnt agree more and like I have said time and time again would rather watch Rescue me than any so-called reality show! It was a good show and Kudos to Dennis for supporting Fire Dwpartments across the nation.
