Just about to leave for my second trip. Tanker Strike Team this time (firefighting Tankers, not bulk water carriers). Deployment in the Yarra Valley area - but that could mean anything.

Hey, We out here in Los Angeles (so. Cal) get things like these
we had 23 brush fires all at once (2 years ago)
the whole countys of los angeles and san diego was surrounded by fire the smoke was so great that ppl from the international space station could see the smoke (see photo above)
there were even fire on a Catalina Isand (an island that is part of cali..its about 20 miles off the coast of Los Angeles)

Stay safe

Latest is 84 confirmed deceased but thankfully no firefighters, and 750 houses confirmed destroyed. One hell of a bad day.
What a terrible situation. My thoughts and prayers are with our Australian brothers and sisters fighting the fires and with the families and friends of those who have lost so much, and so many.

Confirmed death toll now 96 and will still climb higher yet
I sat on my bum at the station, we were to important to deploy. such is life, in a high risk area.
You stay there and defend that beautiful place! I want to see green (not black!) when we come up in September to facilitate this exercise!!!!
