I am a vol. firefighter looking at light set ups for my POV. i don't want anything too extravagant, just something to get the job done.

I am thinking about mounting a couple AxixTech 4 Diode LED Light Heads in the grille of the car, and Whelen taillight strobes.

i've been trying to do research, but i am having difficulty figuring out if that set up will work in my Camry. does anyone know if it will? also, how difficult will the set up be?

i know it would be much easier to buy a dash mount that plugs into the cig lighter, but i'm feeling a bit more adventurous than that.

I have a Whelen slimlighter right below my rearview mirror, two mini phantoms in the back window and strobes in the four way flashers. If you have any mechanical skill at all, its VERY EASY to do!!! As far as drilling holes in the dash and such.... nonsense, the interior lights are held to the glass with suction cups and they are wired to a switch box that is mounted inside my center console. Any worrying about strain on the power supply is taken care of by running all of the lights to a separate fuse box (placed under the hood) which then runs to the battery. If the lights ever drew to much power (which is almost impossible considering they draw like 1/4 of an amp) they would simply blow a fuse like any stock electrical equipment on your ride. Replace the fuse and it works again... but like I said, LED's hardly draw any power and I have never had a fuse blow. As far as the lights themselves, I couldnt be happier. The slimlighter definatly moves traffic day or night, the strobes also look awesome. As far as the mini-phantoms, well... nobody really sees them till I pass but my hope is that they make me more visible at an intersection. Feel free to ask my any questions you have about wiring your new lights in.... you will be much happier hard wiring them in and just having to flip a switch rather then fumble around with a cigar plug at 3 in the morning.
There is no fumbling at three in the morning I have a mini phantom that is "held on with suction cups" like yours and the plug that goes in has a rocker switch so no fumbling just hit the switch and there is no holes, nothing mounted or anything, and the wires are all concealed wouldnt know it was there if you didnt see the light next to the rearview mirror.
I guess that works if you leave your light plugged in all the time. I have a GPS that is usually plugged into the 12V.
I have a led visor light with a cigarette lighter plug. It works great, you can change the patterns, great warranty, and it is out of the way when you don't need it.
In my dept. no one but the chife is allowed to drive to the scene everyone else has to report to the station to pick up the rigs. Like paid dept our trucks are staffed with an engineer capt. and 3 firefighters at all times.
In Ga if you have lights to resond with. you must have a Red Light Sticker and lights must be visable 360 with a sirens...Now I on the other hand do not use my lights for Responce i use them on the side of the rd...But I am planing on gettin my Sticker and running with them in the future
