Im a college student from THE ART INSTITUE OF PITTSBURGH with a design challenege to improve ergonomically the portable radios that you as a firefighter use while in action. Your feedback would be greatly apprciatated for my following design. Thank you
Here are a few questions that you might have a solution to....
What current issues do you have with your current walki talkies?
When gloves are being worn what are the problems controlling your radio?
Where do you usually store/place your radio while in action?
Do your portable radios have mics? If they have mics what functions on these mics would you like to see added/taken away?
What color would you like to see the walkie talkie be?
What kinda materail is your walkie talkie and what is the brand name?
There is another discusion on here like this somewhere else but I couldnt find it. But to answer your questions
1 Battery life
2 changing channels and adjusting volume (small knobs on top)
3 radio pocket on my bunker coat or clipped to my belt
4 Yes mine has a mic, nothing its fine
5 black I think it looks better and cleaner. Would be nice to have some reflective striping on them. I put a tetrehedon from an old fire helmet on mine
Thank you for replying to my post. You have really got me thinking now about this. If you want when my project is done i could show you what i came up with. Thanks and have a good day
Ther is actually three of the same post from different people, but poseted the same day. The one I was talking about a girl had posted it about two or three months ago, but it was the same question. I didn't think our radios were that popular.
motorola HT1250 store in my turnout coat has its own pocket very durable little radio Would love to see em make them in either lime green or blaze orange
