NORTH BELLE VERNON, Pa. - Police had to use a stun gun on a Pittsburgh-area man whose house was on fire because they say the man was endangering himself trying to battle the blaze with a garden hose.
Officials in North Belle Vernon say the fire broke out Monday afternoon and spread to two houses.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, one homeowner was trying to fight the flames with a garden hose. Police say they tried three times to remove Damon Baker from the scene, but he wouldn't budge, so officers had to subdue him.
Baker told WTAE-TV he was just trying to save his pet reptiles. Five of his snakes made it out of the fire, but six didn't survive.
Police say no charges will be filed against Baker.

Well he can blab if he wants to, but it is his opinion on his ability and the actual facts we have. There have been countless needless injuries and deaths because people went back in because they thought they could do more etc. Problem is most adults forget what is learned as children because they think they are more invincible or quicker, better, etc, yet end up being pulled out by FF's later and thus creating more risk and danger to FF's.
Coulda, woulda, shoulda is there, there only known facts for sure are this wouldn't happen if the fire never started.
We've had homeowners physically removed from the premises by LEO, but never tased.
At least it was harmless pythons. I made a fire where the homeowner had a deadly Cobra, 2 Black Mambas and a Viper from South America inside. Those will make one consider a defensive attack real quick.
My guys would have heard the word snake, screamed like little girls, and handed him the hose. :o
In what way? They saw a risk to life, they tried to remove the man from the scene, he resisted so they took further action. The man was then removed safely. I agree with their action, why charge him?
My question is how didn't they know their house was on fire. No smoke alarms?
