I started this group last week, and I see that I haven't received much activity on it as yet.
This Group is for senior members of the fire service that are over the age of 55. Maybe I should have named the group " On Top Of The Hill Gang " and then maybe I would get some activity. I don't want anyone to take offence by me using the theme " Over The Hill Gang " I was just trying to reach out to our senior members of the fire service that are still active. I know that there are a lot of us out there. If you think I should change the name of the group to " On Top Of The Hill Gang " or something else, please let me know. My aim was to start a group for members over the age of 55 that are still active. If anyone has any better names, or ideas please let me know. Thank you, and please be kind with your comments.
Hey Joe, good to have you brother, thank you for the
compliment on the sheild, it did turn out very well. I am
thinking of mounting it on a helmet to see how it would
look. Again, Thank you, be well, and stay safe Brother.
I'm 57 and still active, but slowing down a lot. I am captain of the rescue company, training officer, secretary, safety officer, rehab officer, accountability officer, and an EMT. We are a small rual department with 31 active members. I rarely am on a hoseline any more but I am always in the middle of the action guiding the younger members.
Reg,
I think all will agree that between 45 and 55 you have definately earned your stripes !! Yes, you were probably a kid when we all started but, then again, most of the people on FFN weren't even a glimmer in daddy's eye back then.
This past January I joined the club... double nickles...
I would be honored to be a member of the group, seeing that I started this gig in 1973. It's good to be in the company of some other old timers. I look forward to participating with the group.
I joined because iv'e been in the fire service in 1965 with the old Morgan co. Ind. Civil Defense. All I do now is run the engine or tech in the bus small department only 17 members which includes 3 Emts only It get pretty thin in the daytime Thank God for mutual aid Keep up the good work.
I'm not 55 but will be 50 in October does that qualify for over the hill, been fighting fires for 30 years now. Could be a great group for the young ones to learn from what do y'all think
I'm 57 and have been a vollie for 37 years. I guess you could call me over the hill, that's where the station is over the hill from where I live. I still pack up and play with the kids.
