In our county the county wide rescue brings the tools and full sized rescue unit. Whatever fire district the call is in brings there smaller brush/accident truck and usually another full sized fire unit so it is onscene if needed.
At both of my departments, we run rescue engines. Some areas of the country call them Squads. It is an attack Engine which also carries rescue equipment like airbags, spreaders, cutters, ropes, etc.  These type apparatus respond with a medic transport unit staffed by firefighter/paramedics for MVA's.  In our area, these medic transport
units are called squads. Our heavy rescue or tech rescue teams respond upon request of the Officer in charge. We can handle most entrapments with our 1st due Eng, Squad, and Truck Co's. Our Rescue Co's are Regional and are comprised of members from the contributing Fire Departments.
