NYC policemen and firefighters are not invited to the 10th anniversary of 9/11 at Ground Zero..... .................... They weren't invited on that day in 2001 either. They just showed up. PLEASE REPOST
I actually question the post here, because this looks as though it was something off of Facebook (especially considering the re-post stuff). I see no articles or references pertaining to the topic at hand nor anything else leading one to believe the post title is legit. Personally, I don't buy it.
That is BULLSHIT. We lost 343 brave firefighters that day. And now the first responders are dying because the crap they breathed in. But yet they won't invite them to come to the tenth anniversary at ground zero. They should go anyway. And also start ringing the Presidents phone and/or congressman to get some answers why.
And who says they aren't? Is this the typical knee jerk reactions we should just go with or what? Really, what evidence or actual facts are you going on here to back this claim? Do you see some article link or actually facts stating FDNY and NYPD aren't invited? I sure don't. All I see is basically a facebook post.
yes indeed what is posted to begin this forum topic was in fact all over facebook, but guy, a simple google search would turn up facts about what's goin on during the 9/11 ceremony...here's a link I found, First responders will not be invited to this year’s 9/11 ceremony at Ground Zero. That’s the word from city officials who say there isn’t enough room for the tens of thousands of firefighters, police and other rescue workers.
Okay, that clears things up a bit more than just some random facebook post subsequently posted onto this site.
As for searching google, etc, personally I could care less, as this was not my thread started giving such "facts". Such a burden is on the OP to back up such claims, but alas, we sure did see a couple knee jerk reactions right away here, now didn't we?
As for the article at hand. OK, I can understand some of the reasoning here by the city. I don't agree with responders not being invited, but then again, it really IS a numbers game. In fact I just came back from NYC on Friday after spending most of the week there. So far, out of those on this site how many have actually been around Ground Zero in the past week? I will say that the site is a big construction site now, you can see the Freedom Tower going up, as well as other WTC buildings. The site is difficult to access given the space and let alone to invite 91,000 first responders as the article refers.
So there were just 2000 victims from the WTC, so that is quite a large number of family members that space needs to be set aside for, let alone setting aside space for responders. Now to believe in any way or form that the city doesn't realize the committment of responders on 9/11 is ridiculous. What we see is a social media knee jerk reaction being perpetuated with little insight to logistics.
In the end you will see first responders there, just not individual invites. While I don't agree with what can be construed, and most definately is by many as a snub to first responders, I think you will see some representatives there as well. The big picture needs to be focused on and you don't get that with knee jerk emotional "re-posts" from social media sites. What you get is people who don't look at the actual logistics, spacing, and facts, and go on and forward such stuff with little regard to the big picture.
I believe that I read somewhere that the city was going to hold another ceremony either a few days before the 9/11 ceremony or a few day after, for the first responders at Ground Zero. And on a side note, here's an article from a newspaper up here in Canada, about them wanting to cut out the roll call of the victims from that dreadful day.
We werent invited 10 years ago either.....but we showed up anyhow !!
But seriously,, space is a definite factor there. Construction takes up ALOt of space thereso access is going to be a nightmare plus the security will be immense. Either way---the families should get preference then the first responders---either way its going to be severely crowded...but we will be there

I think these last couple posts start to show a bigger picture as well as things in a different light rather than the knee jerk, emotional, response such a chain-letter Facebook type approach misses.
I agree. I also heard there was another ceremony for them. We aren't invited to The Pentagon on 9/11 either even though we sent hundreds of DC firemen.
They weren't invited on that day in 2001 either. They just showed up.
Just for the sake of arguing, it was the terrorists who were not invitied that created this event. However, the police and fire WERE definately invited......any time the tones drop to respond, that is an invitation.
