New Radio System
Well our county has been working on the new radio system for over a year. Down side is we had a 2 hour training lecture a couple of weeks ago. Today we were told Monday at 8:00 am you will need to start using the new radios.
We have had a low band system with 6 channels for years. Now we have a digital system with radios that have 3 banks and 16 channels per bank. This should be a treat. This is what i know about them. We are on bank c answer on 1 switch to 3. Do not push the Orange button on top it will light up the screen at the 911 center and they will be calling you to see if you are down.
This should be a interesting ride to see and hear all the screw ups on these.

We switched to narrow band / trunked channels a couple of years ago. It was pretty intimidating at first but after using them in the field you'll get used to them. If you take the time to get to know all the features of it you will get the most out of your radio. We have the new Motorola 2500's and the things you can do with them is impressive to say the least, including having private transmissions with a specific radio and making phone calls to land lines. The trunking in my opinion is the best, transmissions are crystal clear and we have a noticeably improved signal. Good Luck

We use the new Motorola XTS 2500's too. Everyone has to go to narrow banding due to federal law changes. It is time to move into modern technology. It will take time but like all other change, give it some time. You will like the radios features and capabilities soon enough.

Well they have put switching over till further notice now. I'm not sure the control center has a clue what they are doing. The down side is some of the departments pulled the old equipment out already.
