At our meeting tonight I had volunteered to be in charge of recruiting for our department. I have looked online for some ideas, but must be looking in the wrong spots. I would like some help in finding ideas on how to get our community involved and getting some new volunteers. Am also looking for some public service announcements to put in our towns newspaper. I hope you can help me out! Thanks!!

THANKS TO ALL THAT HAVE HELPED ME OUT!! I HAVE LOTS OF GREAT SITES TO CHECK OUT NOW. THANKS AGAIN!!!

all you need and it's free.
We ask all of our guys to be on the lookout for new members, its tough especially here in Stephens County here in Texas, its a rural area and most of the property is owned by out of towners. We have a some success with the newspaper and local radio stations doing promotions for free, I would try this and I wish you good luck., its tougher than most people think.... www.waylandvfd.webs.com
El Tigre? Nah, no mention at all :)
Check out the National Fire Protection Agency web site. They have lots of stuff right down that line. They actually have a book that you can get free of charge on just that.
First, a little shameless self-promotion to steer you to my blog space....then some shameful promotion of our resident Recruitment and Retention guru, Tiger Schmitendorf

I'll hunt around over the next few days, but here in Oz there was Commonwelath funding (a huge amount!) made available to volunteer agencies specificly to look at and research vol retention and recruiting.

I'll see what I can find about it- it may be of use and give you some ideas...
