Are today’s leaders in the fire service adequately prepared for the future? Is there a gap to be filled? What leadership skills and perspectives are critical now and in the future?

New research from the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) identified the following seven competencies as most critical for success, now and in the future:
1. Leading people
2. Strategic planning
3. Managing change
4. Inspiring commitment
5. Resourcefulness
6. Doing whatever it takes
7. Being a quick learner

Are these the attributes leaders need now and in the future? What other elements of leadership do you feel are important?

great topic! I would like to see more leaders adding value to others instead of trying to add value to themselves! Develop your people! Leaders are not the ones who run off by themselves and finish the race first...leaders are usually in the back of the pack bringing others to the finish line! Just my thoughts...keep up the good work!
I couldn't agree more with you brother !! your absolutly right a leader with no team is nothing .
I'm lucky to have a good crew with me because i 'm not the only one in the race!!!

be safe !!
