Really, if you need a jacket why wont your department get you one? You have to have the proper PPE if your on a scene of a fire....It shouldnt be up to you to purchase your own jacket
They said that,''WE ARE NOT REAL FIREFIGHTERS, SO WE CANT HAVE ONE ON A Scene" But If i do get one and but junior then i can were my gear to a scene. I just want one for safety and to let people know i am a junior
If your dept. isnt willing to at least issue you a full set of turnout gear, they shouldnt be running a junior program. The whole point of being a junior is to gain valuable knowledge and training. Whether that training is on the fireground or just at the station, you need to be practicing in a full set of gear.
Does that mean they wont issue you gloves, boots, or a helmet??? All of those things, as well as others, are needed to be safe on the fireground, whether your working it or not.
