Found this group on facebook. Just wanted to say HI!. And encourage all who are interested in being a part of the best brotherhood in the world.
Spent my best years in a house that was 3rd busiest in state (CA) and 10th in nation. What a ride!!
35 Years in fire service here, first 7 as a volunteer. Retired in 2005, enjoyed the ride very much.
Would have stayed longer but had some injuries and didn't want to be the one rescued. Although I know my brothers would have done so without reservation.
I have learned that just when you think you've seen it all, something else comes along and shocks you.
As I got older I really enjoyed my ICS Quals. in Logistics. Still got out of the house, but didn't have to play in the smoke.
Now I keep busy as a boat mechanic. Not as exciting, for sure, but keeps me active.

If you can hang on you're in for one fantastic ride. Make that life. It's a life style. Lots of ways to go too.
Get all the training you can.
