O.K., there has to be another fire department with great volunteers or paid that will be helping their community isn't there?
We will be having our annual Breakfast with Santa on December 6. Pancakes, bacon, orange juice, donut holes, milk coffee (for the parents) and a lot of happy faces when Santa shows up in one of our fire trucks.

That's about it, other than being there for the community 24/7/365.
We usually ride santa claus around the town and then take him back to the station where the kids come and tell him what they want and are given treat bags.

The kids really enjoy the afternoon with santa.
jerry baldwin, unit 212 oil springs volunteer fire/rescue, johnson county kentucky here. our department is probably the most community oriented of the 14 departments in our county. we have several community activites through out the year. in the fall for example, we give out candy on halloween and all that stuff, but christmas is my favorite time. we have a prime rib christmas dinner with all our members and families. santa comes and gives out gifts to the children. we also have a "santa clause run" to take santa all over our coverage area to give out gifts and candy or fruit. some kids take pictures with santa and sit on his lap and tell him what they want for christmas. santa (me) has even been known to visit the elderly and/or sick during the santa claus run. let me tell you, it is colder than gee whiz on the back of that engine, but it is worth it. if it is putting out a burning fire, extricating a car crash victim or santa having prayer with a little 80 year old woman, service to our fellow man and the community is what all fire fighters should be about. God bless to all and have a merry christmas.
