Hi everybody.

My name is Sune Schønnemann, and I'm a volunteer firefighter in Denmark, a small European country of about 6 million people (Europe, east of UK, north of Germany and west of Sweden)..

I came to FFN, to check out how you do it "over there"..

A bit about my career.
I started in a local medic-unit, primarily covering motorcross-events, so i got a lot of experience with high impact damages..
After a year or so, I went on to be in a specialist communications and CBRN unit, in the governmental DEMA - Danish Emergency Management Agency. DEMA has two volunteer departments covering the entire country, and the one I'm in, counts 300 volunteers, and covers about 4 million souls, and our nations capital.
In Denmark, about 20% of the nations men in the age of 18, will be enlisted for either military service - I choose to enlist my self, as a firefighter for a period of six months - just for the fun of it.
And thats about it.. I'm done with my enlistment, and now I'm back at my DEMA department.

Welcome to the Nation, glad to have you.
Thanks a lot guys..

Cannon, you're absolutely right, but in Denmark we have a tendency to be a little slow with the new rescue techniques.. The guys from Sweden is way better at testing new forms of rescue.
We especially lack new techniques in the field of vehicle extrication (or, we actually don't lack them, we just use the good old and well-proven stuff, instead of testing new methods)

But on the fire side of things, we do quite well..
We have some of the oldest fire departments in Europe, and we have the worlds oldest ambulance service still in existence.
One of the newest inventions is the Firexpress system, http://www.firexpress.com/
