Hey all, Just hoping someone can give me some guidance on getting back into WFF. I completed my Type-II training in 2006 and worked on the Dawson Complex Fire(Chadron, NE) after which I came back to Michigan and piddled around with dead-end jobs. I kept getting the itch to go back out and be with my brothers, but I am unsure who to contact about getting back out there. I called California Fire and was told Janurary was the deadline. It's now April 26th and I am getting the bug to get back into it. I have only been on one fire assignment(Dawson Complex Fire), but it was the greatest experience of my life and I am really motivated to get back into it(Been running at least 3 miles every day, plus weightlifting, body-weight exercises, etc)

My Ultimate goal is to be a smoke jumper, but before that I want to work on a hand crew for a few seasons, and then a hotshot crew for another few seasons before going for it.

anyway, My main question is who & where do I contact about getting back into it? I am sure I will have to take the pack test over and all that good stuff, but that's no problem. I will travel anywhere and work wherever is needed. If I can't be a full-time FF this season, I am willing to voulenteer this season just to get back out there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stay safe,
Mike

you will likely need RT130 --the annual refresher for 130/190

also check with contract engines (area state and federal forestry folks can likely give you names) in areas you want to work. If you have ENGB training they usually have openings
