Tomorrow morning at 0800 I'm taking my FFI practicals. Its scheduled to last through 1600. I'm waiting on my results for my Haz-Mat OPs test, it's had me stressing for the past week. My question is, any idea how many practicals you have to do for FFI? I know like for OPs we had to pass 9 out of 12 practicals. I'm in Louisiana if that makes any difference. We do our certs through LSU FETI. I've been in the fire service for a couple years now, so I've got no worries about passing my practicals or my FFI test, but I was just curious. Thanks for any info!

I am not sure just how many for FF1, Because I took 1 and 2 together so they we all merged. Just remember to talk your way through it and relax. Have fun be safe.
I'm looking at (if I passed my OPs) taking my FFI test Tuesday, after taking my practicals tomorrow. Going to most likely take FFII right after (also assuming I pass OPs and then FFI practicals) my FFI test. I'm going to assume that we're going to do all the practicals in the new 5th edition book, it covers FFI & II. But I'll find out tomorrow!
This my depend on what edition of the essential book was used in class.
Basically you will have to do a practical in each subject matter covered in class.
In RI we just started using the 5th edition so there is a change in the practical program
The day start out with a written exam of 100 questions.
Next there are stations set up and now you deal with evaluators.
You go to the area and they tell you what they are covering and then you just do the requirement of that station.
As a eg. SCBA you come into the class with yours. In this station the evaluator tell you what method to use and then just watch and uses a check sheet to make sure you have completed all of the requirements of this station.
If you do you pass and if you dont you dont and you have to do it again.
You have to remember that this section is not a teaching section but a test so thatis why when the subject matter has it practicals all attend.

This is the way we are doing it in RI now Hope this helps you

Woodie
Passed my HazMatOps with flying colors, also passed all my FFI practicals as well. Taking my test tomorrow at 1800! Nervous as all get out, but I'm studying and keeping my fingers crossed!
Congrats and good luck just try not to over think your ?s and you will be fine
little late, but good luck/congrats.
Let us know, How did you make out ?????????
Hey Capt. I passed with flying colors. I'm about to get on my city's FD. I have to go through their academy first even though I've got my FFI. I'm studying to take my driver/operator-pumper on the 26th this month, and then next month I'm hoping to take my instructor I. I start their academy in july, and their rookies get their basics (cpr, first responder, hazmat awareness, hazmat ops, fire I, and fire II) so after I'll get my fire II towards the end of the academy and graduate I'll already have 3yrs experience, and some more advanced certs! My brain has been racked since january I've read a different book and taken a different test every month!!!!!
also this coming saturday, I take my fire II practicals (getting them done ahead of schedule) and in the following week I'll be taking D/O-Pumper practicals (anyone know what I'll be expected to do for this set of practicals?)
Taking my fire II practicals on the 9th, and then taking my fire II test on the 11th. Not 100% ready for it, but I'd atleast like to try and see how the test looks, and who knows I might even pass (70% = passing) Wish me luck!
