Would love to hear comments/suggestions for this new iphone/android app.
Developed by NYC Firefighters. Mandown app (www.mandownapp.com) provides and affordable, reliable way to monitor Firefighters in trouble. Once activated, the app constantly monitors for movement. (Like our PASS devices) When it senses ‘no movement’ the clock starts ticking. After 30 seconds an audible pre-alarm sounds. Movement will cancel the alarm sequence.
After 60 seconds of no-movement, the app goes into Full Alarm. A voice message, text message and email will be sent out to the chosen recipients. A map showing location will be emailed and the location will be included in the email and text message.
We're a ways away from the GPS and we pretty much all carry phones now. Set it up to text/email/call dispatch or your chief. Now when you take in a run just turn the app on. If you get in trouble someone will know.
Let me know what you think. www.mandownapp.com

Brilliant!
When I read this I had another "Why didn't I think of that?" moment.
Hi Norm,
We actually sat around the kitchen table after a job and talked about this. Why not take advantage of mobile networks. We've been at jobs where we lost brothers because we didn't know they were down and there's no reason for that to happen.
Hopefully this app can will someones life. I know I use it and if I have a heart attack or get in a bad spot I know a call/text and email will go out.
If you use it let me know what you think and what we can improve.
Stay safe
Tom
I certainly will check it out and mention it to the rest of the guys.
Thanks again!
