Over 80 firefighters tackled flames from an apartment fire for nearly two hours early Saturday.

9 engines and over 15 support vehicles were dispatched to Arrowwoods Apartments at 7232 Warrior Trail. Crews worked to assist residents in the 16 unit building with no working fire alarms.

Occupants said they had no idea a fire was going on until they saw fire trucks pull up.

Resident, Jolanda Reynolds, said she called 911 after smelling smoke in her apartment. The single mother and her 3-year-old son escaped without injury.

Tenants said this isn’t the first time for a fire in their building. They said the building faced flames about 6 months ago and the fire alarms were never replaced.

According to Battalion Chief Scott Olofson damages and reconstruction could reach over 750,000 dollars.

American Red Cross is providing shelter and personal items for those involved.
