fire number

Ok you get issued a number when you join your department of course the chief is usually 101 asst. 102 and so forth 101-109 on our dept. is for officers after that the numbers really dont matter. I noticed on other departments it may be different how does it work on yours? I am 102.

well deitra just to let you know that im with the ordway fire dept and we have the 4oo's chief has 411 and so on we dont have 401 or any thing we get what we get there is no special numbers for the officers , so you must be an officer to get a 102 number.

we at our dept have the officers as Oscars eg Oscar 1 to 9 and the firefighters as fox eg fox 1 to 50

We have a 4 digit number system in my county. The first 2 digits tell us what dept. the 3rd digit tells us what engine house the truck is out of and the 4th digit tells us what type of truck it is. for instance. 5714. 57 is my dept, 1 is for house 1,and 4 is for our rescue.
We indicate our truck with these numbers.
1-pumper
2-ladder
3-tanker
4-heavy rescue w/water
5-ladder with ALS rescue capability
6-light duty rescue
7-ambulance
8-brush unit
9-utility.

Our officers are numberd from 00-09. IE.. 5700 ect... As far as the privats getting a number, there really isnt a set standard that each dept follows, they just make up their own system.

Our county is approx 699 Sq miles and has 20 fire depts/districts. and 5 Ambulance districts.

I am on a paid engineer on a combi. department and a volunteer department. Numbering systems are different between the two departments in the same county.

For the paid dept. Our Chief is 010. This number was issued because of issues with our dispatch system. We have Battalion 10, 20, 30. Each BC is in charge of an area and BC 30 is the paid BC to oversee the paid guys so BC 10 and 20 are just watching out for the volunteers. We also have a weird thing that I have never heard of before this department. We have assistant battalion chiefs. Basically our BC's operate as Division chiefs and our assistant BC's operate as BC's. Its weird, I know. Any ways our Assistant BC's have numbers from 101-104, and 201-204. Officers are part of the station numbers for station 115 we have captain 150, station 114 we have captain 140, station 112 we have captain 120, for captain 111 we have captain 110. FF's and Engineers only take on numbers of the equipment that they are on. Such as Engine 141 you would have Engineer 141 and Firefighter 141.

For my volunteer department it is a 4 digit identifier. Our chief is 6300, assistant chief is 6301, deputy chief is 6302, Captains are 6303-6305. Firefighters get issued a number when they begin and keep it unless you move to an officer. Mine is 6387. Numbers are issued around the equipment. So the numbers 6320, 6331, 6332, 6333, 6340, and 6346 are taken by apparatus.

So I guess that Art was right. Put up a post with redundant stupidity and a prettty face and everyone will trip over their own d*ck to answer it. After all that talk about posting crap that's already been posted, and using the search feature, she posts something right alongside the SAME topic, and everybody freakin lines up to answer it. our department we go by 1 to 6 and are trucks are pumper 1 tanker 2 and van 3 and for the rest of us we go by 7 to whatever number that they give us on calls
