I'm not sure why only a couple news outlets are covering this story, but it is a big deal for those of us on smaller departments that depend on this equipment to be able to protect our communities. I did receive an e-mail from our DNR Forestry office that said they are fighting it, and asking us to contact our legislators and voice our displeasure with the decision. Anyone out there have any more info or insight?
Here is a link to a news article out of Oklahoma on the situation:
I know there hasn't been any activity on this thread but I thought I'd give an update anyway. It sounds like an agreement has been reached that will allow the transfer of excess property to FD's again. I don't have all of the details but it looks like there will be a lot more red tape now to get something but at least we have access to items again.
Hopefully the last update to this thread. As of last week the FEPP/FPP/DOD program is completely back to the way it was before they decided to mess with it. Thank you to everyone that contacted your legislators and made something happen here. The lifeline of the small, rural VFD is back!
