I do remember Emergency, a Jack Webb show about LA Fire, similar to Adam 12, a good cop show. Emergency sure made us look good, no personal problems like Rescue Me. Sorry Dennis, I know we are screwed up some times, but that bad? I am still waiting for a true telling of what our lives are really like.
Kurt Russell had the Chicago accent down, I grew up there, but it made a better theme park ride than a movie.
There's a book "TV Firfighters" By Richard Yokley that you can find TV shows from when TV first started out up to 2000. The first TV show was in 1954 "Alarm" which was about fires in LA County which used actors and real firefighters for the show.
Some of my shows were Emergency, Third watch, Rescue 911 and Rescue Me.
Movies John Wayne's "The Hellfighters", Ladder 49, Backdraft, The Towering Inferno.
There are many I have seen.
There is one on youtube now A Japanese show called Rescue: Pride of the Orange. Its about a firefighter who as a kid became trapped in a building after a earthquake. While being rescue a rescue firefighter is killed. The boy later becomes a firefighter and then trains to be a Super Ranger of the fire rescue service. The elite of the rescue service where they train in military ways to the breaking point. Like the Green Beret.
