I have only had about a year on my local Volunteer fire department, and i just started FF1 at the beginning of January. I always hearing some of the more experienced guy talk about that "Oh Shit" moment they had in the past. I haven't had that yet.  But i was wondering what other peoples are like..

Patrick, my moment was when I first ordered to clean the underside of the toilet during our daily station chores following that nasty b-shifter group....

Someone over there truely dislikes probies... as he is well-known for the hit and run, "code brown".... and I think i yelled, "Oh sh*t!!!" when I lifted the lid.
When I feel through a floor of a working structure fire .
Pat: we all have Oh Shi* moments in our careers , i currently have not had any thank god i have witnessed a few and knew the guys very well , we just hope the oh shi* moment we have hasnt killed or injured ourselves or on of our fellow firefighters or civillians
I dropped one leg through a roof and got hung up. Luckily my two partners hauled me to safety and I escaped with burns to the one leg. It was over in seconds but it seemrd like a lifetime!
I just had my "oh shit" moment this past week....I just completed EMT-B class, have registered to take the NREMT test, we got a call for a possible stroke/CVA. We were cleared for no-code response (as we have not completed the drivers testing, but our station officers are all out of town). We arrive well ahead of our Duty officer, but just after Amb...we walk in, family is bawling their eyes out...think, no biggie this is probably scary to some people...after all I had gone on a few stroke calls as an observer, this should be ok. Turn the corner, pt laying on the ground, non-responsive, face looks purple, EMS cutting her shirt off, slapping de-fib pads on her, and trying to intubate....my first thought was "Oh Shit"....later it was thank GOD Amb got there first!

Found out later pt passed away, hsp thought it was probably an aneurysm...so sad.
I have the satisfaction of being the first person to activate AFFF bilge sprinkling on the USS Harry S Truman (CVN-75). While I was a Damage Controlman, the ship was still being built, but the AFFF systems were online. On of the maintainence tests was a push button test of all hose reels and sprinklers. Hosereels have 1 button, sprinklers have an on/off switch. There is redundancy with coverage, one system covers sprinklers, one covers hosereels. Since we couldn't take the systems down completely we had to test sprinkler buttons on one side and hosereels on the other. Well I went to test a hosereel and wasn't paying too much attention and hit the ON for the sprinkler. The station we were testing didn't activate (rightly so) but the online station did. Dumped about 200 gallons of foam in the bilge of the engine room. Thank goodness the shipyard cleaned up the mess since they still owned the ship......ah my first "dear chief" letter.
Patrick, if you stay with this you will see many "Oh Crap" moments. We are seeing an dealing with people in thier worst. I can think of many, some serious some humerous. Important thing is that you learn from them and they become experiences to build youur career on.
Only oh shit moment I had was during a training burn on our large frame aircraft trainer. The fires are propane fires so the don't get too bad. There are 3 "fires" we put out cargo fire passenger fire and cock pit fire. We entered through the rear of the started with the cargo fire put that out and started to the passenger fire. There is only about enough room to walk through with out hitting the walls or the "cargo" fire as we were walking by the cargo fire flashed on us later found out a vaulve slipped I put water on it as we backed out ended up spidering my mask and face shield no injuries but we did get everything checked out afterwards.
