There are tons of books and guides out there covering this topic....any suggestions or recommendations?

I haven't read any but probably should, all of my ops is from what we have had in training and a few fires .
Pick up a bit from the popular ones and apply them to common sense what is ina book from one firefighter might not be how exactly you would handle same situation you know as well myself we think on our feet as we go..you might handle a certain attack or whatever slightly different than what you read all training is a foundation for what you will apply
I'd go with the IFSTA manual on Engine Company Ops. After that, start working your way through the "tons" of them that are out there.
