Emergency Services Athletics

A few of us on my department are trying to put together a cops vs. firefighters tackle football game. We have run into some discussions about possible injuries that could place players on extended sick leave. I was wondering how many of you participate in firefighter/police/EMS only leagues, teams, etc.? And, what, if any, advices you have for us. Both our fire and police departments are really seeking the backing from our chiefs for this venture. Any ideas?

We stick with flag football or basketball or even bowling.

Right now we're trying to put together a street hockey league. I'm gonna say no contact.
