I like the idea of members being around the station, as long as the behaviour is in check, they're not causing problems are respectful of neighbours in terms of noise, etc.
Right on. All of the above. Of course. Why not? We have guys who do their laundry at the station. So, it cost the village some water. It puts a memeber on "on duty". Thats a good thing. Also, we couldn't possibly keep up with the beuracracy and committee work, if we wern't at the station doing it. Thank God.
We hang out at my station all the time. If you are planning on sleeping in, you must be in the station by a certain time. The Chief allows the fun to happen inside the station, but the screwing around and going to extreme is not permitted. Friends that are not members are allowed in the station. They have to leave if you go on a fire call or they must be out of the station by 10pm.
No member at either my part time or full time departments has ever been discourgaed for hanging out at the house. Many members come back to the house off duty to work out or if they are on their way somewhere, they usually stop by to say hi. At my part time, members are actually encouraged to come around because when the tones drop, the officer might ask them to jump on the apparatus and add to the manpower. I even allow members to spend the night off duty depending on circumstances.
yes its a good idea too quick response time
