D.C. Firefighters Make Rescues at Apartment Building

Washington, D.C.--Officials say several people have been rescued from a building fire in northwest Washington.

D.C. fire and EMS spokesman Pete Piringer says firefighters were called to the 100 block of Kennedy Street about 10 p.m. Thursday for a report of fire in a two-story building. Firefighters rescued several people from the building, which houses a church and apartments.
Piringer says two women, aged 62 and 66, and a man in his early 50s, were injured. All suffered smoke inhalation and were in serious condition. A firefighter also twisted his ankle while rescuing one of the residents.
Fire officials say the fire started in a first-floor apartment and spread to the second floor.

I think there were actually 3 fires in 24 hours in DC where the crews made rescues with people trapped.(May have only been 2 with people trapped) Great job to my brothers out there. There's been a lot of these fires in the past month for some reason, but the department has done a great job with quite a few rescues in the past month. Definitely need the good press since they usually beat up on us for our EMS. At least we still fight fire like we should.
